Jackson Street Businesses

The Jackson Street Programme (JSP) is an incorporated society established in 1992 to support and champion the businesses along historic Jackson Street in Petone. We work to promote, preserve, and enhance the street as a vibrant destination for shopping, dining, heritage experiences, professional services, and community life.JSP represents 278 local businesses from the Railway Station through to Cuba Street.

Our aim is to help these businesses thrive and ensure Jackson Street remains a welcoming hub for locals and visitors.

Our work is funded through a targeted rate on commercial properties in the area, alongside charitable donations and support from members. A small team, based in the Historic Police Station, delivers initiatives that strengthen the local business community and organise events that highlight the street’s unique character.

Often described as the “Jewel in the Hutt’s Crown,” Jackson Street continues to play a vital role in the vibrancy and economic growth of Petone, offering an eclectic mix of shops, cafés, restaurants, and services.
